CISA has a new article
Zoom

CISA has now published another article in Plos One, the scientific journal with open online access, an impact factor of 2.776 and edited by the Public Library of Science.

The article’s lead author is the CISA researcher Manuel Lemos who developed an intervention control study for schistosomiasis in children aged between 2 and 15 within the scope of his doctoral degree at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oporto.

The field work took place in the Cabungo neighbourhood and in the Porto Quipiri School, locations with high prevalence rates of disease and involving around 730 children. The already published article refers to the absence of any serious secondary effects caused by the medication applied to these children and thereby reducing the risks of contracting schistosomiasis and helminthiasis (intestinal parasites) through a safe approach.

This article comes in the wake of another already published by Manuel Lemos in the International Health journal (impact factor 1.797) entitled “Integrated community-based intervention for urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis in children from Caxito, Angola”, which describes the fieldwork carried out.
