New line of research targeting maternal health
Zoom

In March 2016, CISA launched a new line of research in maternal health with the objective of deepening knowledge on the behaviours and attitudes of women during their pregnancy and characterising the unmet needs in maternal health along with the correspondingly associated factors.

Angola has witnessed significant improvements in maternal health over the course of recent years. According to figures from the World Health Organisation, the Angolan mortality rate stood at 1,160 for every 100,000 births in 1990 but that had dropped to 477 for every 100,000 births in 2015.

The CISA team has carried out a diagnostic survey of the conditions prevailing in health units providing maternal-infant health services and is at this moment engaged in applying a community based questionnaire.
