CISA took part in the first ever GeoHealth Congress of Portuguese Language Countries hosted by the University of Coimbra, Portugal, between April 21st and 24th 2014, and gave a speech on the theme "Applying demographic and geographic information surveillance systems in healthcare research - The CISA case".
The congress brought together around 380 researchers from the different Portuguese language countries in an environment favouring interdisciplinary discussion and fostering exchanges between fields as varied as geography, health, engineering, epidemiology, among others.
Within the framework of the same congress, CISA members of staff ran a Short Course on Geographic and Health Information Systems providing the opportunity to deepen principles, concepts and justifications for the design and structuring of healthcare indicators /factors and approaching the analysis of clusters through recourse to ArcGIS® mapping.
