CISA participates in a conference in global health

Joana Morais, director of the National Institute of Health Research in Angola, the entity responsible for regulating CISA, participated in the “Strengthening the EU in Global Health” conference that brought together government figures, decision-makers and experts and made reference to the role CISA has played in developing this field of research in Angola.

 

“Global Health and Africa” was the theme of the panel moderated by John Nkengasong, Director of the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, who counted not only on Joana Morais but also on Martin Seychell, Director-General for International Partnerships and Magda Robalo, High Commissioner for COVID 19 and the former Minister of Health of Guinea Bissau.

 

Organised by the Directorate General of Health of Portugal, under the auspices of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the conference approached themes such as global health in times of a pandemic, EU-Africa strategic alliances, especially for access to vaccines and promoting universal health coverage and counted on the presence of the Minister of Health, President of the Republic and Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal.

 

Through recorded messages, there was also the participation of Amina Mohammed, Vice-Secretary General of the United Nations, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation.

 

The conference brought together over 30 speakers, including government figures, political decision-makers, experts and representatives of European and international institutions spanning diverse fields.
