The CISA SCAFfoldChild project, which counts on FCT/Aga Khan financing, received a highly positive evaluation following its first year of implementation. 

The project, coordinated by the researcher Prof. Miguel Brito with the participation of the CISA medical researcher Brígida Santos, exceeded the objectives set for the first year with the publication of an article in Molecular Biology Reports and the duplication of the number of children enrolled for study participation in comparison with the originally proposed number.

According to the evaluation: “the importance of having increased the cohort size from 100 to 200 patients must be recognized as a significant impact and collaboration”.

Brígida Santos is a pediatric doctor in Angola and a doctoral student in Human Genetics and Infectious Diseases at the Nova University of Lisbon.
