The director of the Angolan Institute of Public Health, Joana Afonso, and the director of CISA, Moisés Francisco, were present at the 8th EDCTP Forum held in Lusaka, Zambia.
The theme of this forum was “Defeating poverty-related and neglected diseases in Africa: harnessing research for evidence-informed policies” and debated by around 700 participants from across Europe and Africa. They included members of the scientific and healthcare communities, political decision makers, regulatory and research entities, foundations and the private sector as well as representatives from governmental and non-governmental organisations.
This was the first time that Angola was institutionally represented at an EDCTP Forum and resulting in opportunities to establish contacts and plan partnerships both for the Institute and for CISA.
