CISA took part in the Manhiça Foundation Global Health symposium entitled “The role of biomedical research institutions in attaining the sustainable development goals in Africa,” an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of CISM – the Health Research Centre of Manhiça.

Miguel Brito, the CISA research coordinator, was one of the guest speakers at this symposium and strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two centres.

The Sustainable Development Goals, the importance of biomedical research, the factors of success to partnerships, the sustainable development of research capacities in Africa and the main challenges for the next two decades were some of the themes that came under discussion.

The event ended with a ceremony in honour of Pascoal Mocumbi, the former EDCTP representative and prime minister of Mozambique.
