The construction of CISA began eleven years ago with the laying of the foundation stone on 24 April 2009 in Caxito.
The partnership, bringing together the Ministry of Health of Angola, the Provincial Government of Bengo, the Portuguese state and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, was launched in October 2007 with the project “Founding a health research centre in Angola” with the initial core objective of setting up a team and establishing the infrastructures for the collection of epidemiological information.
In April 2009, the public presentation of CISA was made to the scientific community in the Girassol Clinic alongside the symbolic laying of the foundation with representatives in attendance from each institution participating in the project.
